removed carb for rebuild . rod to throttle has small hole, about midway, for spring. what does spring attach to and what is its function. thanks in advance

some tractors will SURGE... rpm moving up and down randomly when they set there idling... The spring slows down the surge or puts a Damper on it... On the smaller tractor, the spring hooks around an exhaust manifold bolt.

If the carb is set PERFECTLY calibrated, it may not need the spring. I have a few tractors that have no spring.. not needed.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

yeah, 'antisurge' spring.... loops around one of the manifold studs, I think...
'someone's ' playing with his machine, otherwise I'd go out and check, but yeesh, had to put the furnace on again.....brrrrrr ........grrrrrr

The spring hooks from the rod to an intake manifold bolt. The spring keeps the engine from surging.
