I have an Allis Chalmers FP40 24 fork lift. Starts and runs fine but just today the forks will not lift or tilt. Hydraulic tank is half full. Fluid looks clean no sign of water contamination. No fluid sound changes when either of the levers are moved in either direction. No visible signs of busted hose. I just used it last week to remove a pickup truck bed..today it starts and runs good but won’t lift or tilt. It does sit out in the weather rain or shine. Is there a by pass valve somewhere that allows the fluid to continue to circulate when the cylinders are not moving? I’m wondering if it has a bypass valve that might be stuck open. Any help is greatly appreciated.

normally the bypass would be inside the valve.. Pump will pump thru the valve and back to the tank until a spool is pulled and that closes off the bypass and sends to oil to the cylinder........ you might loosen the SUPPLY hose from the pump into the valve and see if you have pressure..
Could the inline filter be plugged or frozen ? could the coupler on the pump have broken and pump dont turn ?

X2 on the pump coupler. you need to look at the pump, the first question is is it turning?
