A friend of mine got married this last weekend in Wisconsin. Lucky for me the show in Richland Center was this weekend and almost on my way there! They had an wonderful show and a great turnout of A-Cs for their feature. This was an amazing display of tractors, trucks and cars. Heres a few pictures I took.
Loren Durst showed me his and his family's items. This was his Vegetable WD45. It is in amazing original condition and has a unique platform on it. The person he bought it from said that the Oxnard plant converted these tractors if the customer desired it. This was a nicely built conversion and I would believe it by looking at it. One of the Dursts owns a HD41 dozer. These are an amazing machine. I am really happy that atleast one has made it into the hands of a collector. The blade alone is about 15 feet wide! Sure makes this 16B look small! This had a sign on it that said it was the A-C prototype and said it was found in Michigan. I do remember one being on a sale a few years ago in Michigan. Believe it or not this 185 is original! Loren told me it was, so I had to take a closer look. The owner take amazing care of it and still uses it at his farm. He also had a series 4 D17 there that was a match to this and a WD45 that was polished so much the paint was wearing off! I could not get any decent pictures of those two as they were attracting a crowd everytime I walked by them. Unique weights on a B It was a great show and was way more than I expected. Thanks for the invite Loren! Jim |

Great pictures Jim.On that yellow Navy WD in the photo, do you have anymore photos of that ? My ffiend Bob Vanderploeg has one just like that that he picked up out of the Oxnard Ca. area about 8 yrs ago and it was already painted orange and it looked to be factory orange, so he just repainted it orange. Has the exact grill on it. Just wondering on that.
Thanks Darryl

Thank you Jim for posting the great photos. I'm particularly pleased to see someone has saved a restored HD41. Was that show held on the Durst property or very close by ? If not, shifting a 60 ton dozer requires lots of dedication. I hope Loren puts the rippers back on the HD41. Those un-protected mounting studs at the rear, could cause some serious injury.

Teh single front in the first picture has the Oxnard 3 point and the optional depth adjuster. Don't see them too ofter, and it even has the AC top link.

Thanks for the pics, Jim. Looks like a great show. Love that HD 41. It dwarfs everything else there.
There are two of those HD 41's still working stripping coal in the mine near me. Word is they will soon be retired and possibly for sale. I need a much bigger shed!! |
