I was leaving kindergarden wondering why all the teachers and parents were crying,
not understanding that President Kennedy had been killed.

Wink I get things off a bit too, so I checked he was shoot on the 22 the day after my birthday not today. Also still one of the bigger mystery's of modern history of who really did it. I watched a month back a show that made a good case for the Mafi having done him in. But plenty of other good suspects that we peons will never know the real story for sure.

Being on the left side it was still early in the day and school was canceled for the day.

A few years ago, wife & I toured the 6th floor museum where Oswald took his shots at President Kennedy. Sobering moment.

I was just a kid back then & remember it being discussed on the national TV news channels. It seemed like many of the 1960’s evening news pivoted around President Kennedy’s assasination & Vietnam(Saigon, Cambodia, etc).

And Ray is correct, not sure why I was thinking it was today?

Joe, at least you were close. I was in my high school algebra class when we got the news. Very sobering moment. He was the last Democratic president that really loved this country.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

I was in fifth grade and I was celebrating, getting out of school early.  I just didn't understand the whole thing until later that night watching the news!

We all know who was behind the whole deal and with Biden being Catholic, I hope they don't do it again!

I remember it well! Was in my first year of high school. We got the news up here in Canada pretty quick maybe 2 o’clock eastern time. Everyone was in shock. Glued to tv when we got home. Sadly that event seemed to start a bad chain of events. I don’t think anything since has had that effect on me!

President Kennedy was held in the highest regard by Canadians and his passing was a shock to our farming community and my family.  I was in Grade 3 at our Township Public School when the school got the news.  The school stood for a minute of silence in our classrooms after our teachers gave us a brief overview of what had taken place.  Everyone seemed to realize this was something we would never forget.  The teachers were all upset and there was a lot of tears.

The quote from his Inaugural Address "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country" has certainly stood the test of time, and I have used it many times

I was in first grade (Mooresville, Indiana).  They announced it over the PA system, I remember hearing some screams/shouting and some teachers crying.  Will never forget.

I was not born until 65. I was very fortunate 15 years ago to travel to Dallas for a 2 week training class for work. While I was there I went to the site and took the tour including the room the shot was fired from. Quite a shot with a vehicle moving. A lot of theories out there...certainly a sad moment for our nation no matter if you supported him or not.

On this subject, I watched a series of the assanation of JfK, and they narrowed it down to one of his secret service guys fired one shot from an ak 47- as he was tumbled backward in his car and accidently blew the back of his head open and something --- Oswalds bullets did not exploede on impact- but the one that blew JFK,S head did,, so how does that happen, why was this such a cover up ? THE MAN WAS ASSINATED IN CLEAR PUBLIC,,

7th grade home room. One of the guys went home for lunch, he came in the room and said the president had been shot. Teacher ran to the office and they put a radio on over the intercom. We were lucky, our school bus driver spent his own money years earlier and had a radio installed on the school bus. We were one of the last kids off the bus, got to listen all the way home.

I was in first grade also, teacher was called out of the room and came back in crying.  I didn't really understand what had happened until on the bus headed home.  Directly after that the entire grade school was taught flag protocol.  First lesson was how to raise the flag to half mast as we all gathered around the flagpole.

I was finishing a grade 11 history exam. We toured the 6th floor museum and saw the window where the shot was fired this past February. As we left we drove over the X on the road. Makes it very real even after all these years.

I was working at the Cockeysville Branch of the Maryland National Bank.  George Riley - the manager came in and asked "did you hear about the President?"  We worked till the afternoon and re-opened that night for our Friday Night Hours.  Everyone was upset and for a Bank very quiet.  We all had our own grief to carry.
Joe, you always bring these dates to our attention.  Thanks.  I had forgotten the date but it was one of those unforgettable days.  I can almost clearly remember - even today - almost everything I did and what was said.
Good Luck!
