So I have these f gaskets in my gasket set. I read on another post to use them only if the main cap is shimmed. I had nothing under my main cap upon disassembly.
The post also said to apply a small bead of silicone under the main cap if the cap was not shimmed. Why would I do this to the rear but not the front also? These AC engines are really testing my engine knowledge, but I want to make sure that I have this thing together right the first time. Thanks guys! |

The front main cap is INSIDE the engine. The rear cap is exposed. I never use the F gaskets and don't really care what others do or don't do. I use oil resist RTV where the F gaskets go and under the main cap a little bit and on the ends of the rear seal tips. Rear seal glued in place (bottom of groove) with 3M8001 top and bottom. Thinly wipe grease on the inside of the rear seal for lube keeping away from the split points. Install the pan gasket parts correctly !!

I see what you’re saying now. *smh*
Is there a specific torque on the timing cover bolts? |
