Does the oil in the hydraulic system also lube the PTO? Looks like it does. When changing oils in a non running 45 the hydraulic drained OK from a drain plug. When I remove the plug on the PTO it was black and was so thick it barely came out and did not resemble the hydraulic oil. Do I need to get in there and clean it up?
Thanks Larry Miller

They're separate. The PTO gearbox, hand clutch compartment, trans, and rear end all share the same gear oil. Since the PTO gearbox is the lowest point that's where a lot of gunk ends up.
