I saw this G at last weekend's tractor show. It was set so narrow that the battery box had to be relocated above the hood. Was this an option?

They were designed to go down to 36" tread width, I don't know if that's what that one is or not. Looks like you could almost drive it in the front door.

Seems no end to the equipment and combinations found on a G!
Looks like a big guy would fall over sideways on a 36" wb.

That battery box can't be right !
First it's not level, and A-C would have got that correct
second, that 'ground' wire connected to tin is NOT a good idea
and
it covers up the best name in tractors !

This one was at OPOP show last year at Dale's. I talked to the fellow who had it and he said it was a vineyard model. Looks pretty much dead on to the one posted.

I'm gonna jump in and say they look factory to me. Don't know what factory but what are the chances of 2 different guys coming up with the same battery mount?

I've never seen one that narrow! My wife would crap when she came home and it would be sitting in the bedroom. I can hear it now... "Come on honey, it's safer in the house than in the garage! Dad's got John Deere paint floating around out there!"

A G man told me that a bunch of G's were shipped to North West where a machine shop would cut them down for the bean growers. Vineyard guys liked that too. Market needs rule the day.

The G was a very adapatable tractor. We used them for almost anything. And if they would not fit we made them fit. We never narrowed a G like that. And I agree that it has to be factory since the rear axles are cut to special specifications.
We used to make them so wide with spools on rear axles and special expanders on the front.
Never thought to take a picture though.

Several years ago someone, I think California, posted about one wanting more information. They seemed to think it was narrowed down to use in chicken houses. I don't think anyone answered their post.

Ya know, 50 years from now someone is going to pull one of Singing Pigs diesel powered G's out of some barn somewhere and will be asking if it was a factory option! LOL
