Replaced shifter lever pin with oversized , shifter housing was removed and all went back together ok
Know shifting with tractor not running seems like I can’t get it into 3 gear.. Did remove the whole shifter housing to check the lower part of the shifter, reverse latch also in place. Haven’t tried to shift with tractor running yet the gas tank is out. Edited by 68mustang - 12 Feb 2020 at 4:52am |

If gear teeth are not lined up, they won't go in gear. MACK

Mack is right. If the gears aren't lined up, they will hit each other and not slide in. Try engaging the belt pulley, lock out the clutch, and give the input shaft a wiggle with the belt pulley. Bet it'll drop in.

You mean try to turn the engine over some, correct, 1st gear and 2nd shift smooth.
Reverse can’t tell if it’s reverse or 4 th. |

Not the engine, just the tranny. If you lock the clutch down and engage the belt pulley, you can spin the transmission input shaft and see if 3rd will drop in. If you don't have a belt pulley, you can do the same with the PTO and a pipe wrench. Just make darn sure your clutch is locked down and its in neutral. AaronSEIA
