DIM WITT talks a good story, but you know half the stuff in his house came from CHINA.. Look on the shelves at Lowes, Menards, local Hardware Store... ANYWHERE.. Its not just Wal Mart or Harbor Freight... there were a LOT OF MANUFACTURERS that moved overseas in the last 20 years..... Clinton got it rolling and the bummer pushed "these jobs are NEVER coming back"............. THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP !!

yep I agree with u 100%.  Best thing that ever happened to this country was a president that took this problem head on and Mr. super dim stumbles over himself crying we went wrong.  Guess he voted for the problem?

I went to Harbor Freight on 'Black Friday'.

Bought a 4 1/2" Disc Grinder for $9.99.

Bought a 27 piece Drill Bit Set for $9.99.

Have previously bot both items and knew the quality was OK.

I agree buy a better product the first time.  I refuse to buy anything made in China but more times than not I have no choice because they are the only offered for sale.  This spring I needed a new right angle grinder and came home with a Dewalt.  It was the only one I could find made in USA, however it said on the sticker made with global components(China), but at least they pay an American to put it together.

As far as calling these guys two faced for buying at HF, the last time I checked they had stores, warehouses, and logistics across this country that all have American workers to sell there products in the USA.  I guess you don't care if these Americans have jobs but these two faced guys apparently support them.  No matter what you buy it always supports Americans somehow.  Hell I guess I'm two faced as well, I had no choice but to buy a grinder made with China components.

You did good, the more American the better.  It's a sliding scale, you can't do it all 100% for sure.

I should have added the only reason I went with Dewalt power tools was because a friend of mine gave me a bunch of new cordless Dewalt tools 5 years ago, they are the same ones made today and haven't had any problems.  These cordless tools I received free gratis were all made in China.  The grinder I recently bought at the local parts store was a 110v so I figured the cordless was still China.  Last winter I had to go to Home Depot for some paint and stain and I took time to check their power tools.  Well they had Milwaukee, Rigid, Makita, Ryobi, and Dewalt and all of the cordless tools were made in China except the Dewalt was made in USA with global components.  The exact same tools I have that 5 years ago were made in China.  I thought damn these tariffs are doing some good at least Americans get paid to put a Dewalt together.  Then I wondered how much more for the Dewalt USA then the china stuff.  Well the exact same tool was $7 dollars more than the Rigid and cheaper than the Milwaukee( or vice versa).

Since I like to buy American it made me a bigger supporter of Trumps tariffs than I already was and I know that a guy like Steve B who only buys American is even more happy about the tariffs than me! Wink

well we all know there are places in America that makes different items. different company names are put on them although they come from one factory. parts for most of them come from india, china, etc. different companies put there own prices on them. essentially we all are buying those items whether you want to admit it or not. I do sometimes but a grinding disc for my grinder. I bought some at harbor freight for 5.88. stopped by the local parts place to get an oil filter. looked over in there aisle and noticed the same grinding wheels I just bought. 14.95. which would you buy. as far as the flag I guess its Minnesota's law. I don't buy many tools anymore but when I do it will be from harbor freight.
if harbor freight could only sell American made they would be out of business. same way with ben franklin or a lot of other stores. would I rather buy completely American made at a decent price. sure I would but surely don't see that happening anytime soon. I wished they would get rid of all tariffs in the world and let the free market decide but with Politian's involved it will never happen.

Well, you can shop at Harbor Freight and KNOW you're buying junk, and supporting a company that you know supports China and save yourself a dollar, OR you can shop somewhere else and AT LEAST TRY to find stuff made either here or at least somewhere a little more "like us".  I work in American manufacturing.......I don't like slitting my own throat.  I will spend a few extra dollars to support my fellow American manufacturing employees whenever possible.  It hurts a bit, just like commodity prices, it's worth a little pain to fight the fight.  Voting with nothing buy your wallet is short sighted in my opinion.  Justify it for yourselves however you need to.

Funny how this works sometime, I bought a used set of Greenfield- Little Giant taps and dyes about 30 years ago. They were used but still in the original wood container and they ranged from 1/4-1 inch SAE and NC, tap and dye handles big and little the whole works, a beautiful set American made on the East Coast, you guys know the ones with replaceable and adjustable jaws, they appeared as a tribute to American made, at least that is what I thought, boy was I wrong, they turned out to be so soft all they did was make a mess, they had more than likely been abused some, probably never saw cutting oil so I thought the jaws are replaceable, no problem, so I checked into new jaws and about had a heart attack. I am not sure but it seems to me that the jaws for the little dyes were over $30 per half, I never priced the big ones, so $60 a dye for something so soft that it can be marked with carbon steel, I think not. I will buy the hard dies from Taiwan and if they break throw them away and get another set for cheap, I can't say that about taps, for those I buy good ones but for dyes I can say Little Giant is a huge disappointment.

If memory serves me right, it was Bummer that said that the job are leaving the US and NEVER coming back.  However, many jobs HAVE come back because of Mr. Trump and his policies.  The jobs were leaving for several decades due to the failed policies of past administrations, especially due to NAFTA, which was signed by Slick Willy Clintoon.  Yes, I know, it was started under Bush I, but is was the Clintoon who signed it!!!!!

The jobs not being in the US, and the fact that many products are made outside of the US is NOT the fault of Mr. Trump, but those who preceded him.  He is the one bringing things back.  Yet you and the dimwit democraps blame Trump for all your woos.

Give the man a chance.  He has done more to UNDO the screw ups of past administrations than anyone.  Quit blasming him for the failures of Bummer, Bush I & II, Clintoon, Carter, etc.

I get a kick out of 'them' that won't buy from certain stores( made in chinakkkrap) but when you look at the same item, whether it's red, green, blue, or yellow... it's the SAME item and ALL are made in China. If the Canuck was in the toilet(thank King T...) I'd still buy from HF. I've been surprised at the quality of machine tool bits and bearings from Banggood ( China) . LEDS work great too...best of all NO bloody 13% sales tax !
Only problem with banggood is you need to create a 'wishlist' cause it's easy to get lost looking at the neat stuff(to me) that they have at cheap prices !
As for 'quality' tools, I haven't bought any in decades though I keep getting free ,lifetime warranty 1/2" socket wrenches(which I don't use) from Canadian Tire .

To someone who uses tools, but only for occasional use, they are a great start. My own policy, for buying stuff there is if you are not using it every day, or its for special use, they can't be beat.  If you break the HF one, then go out and buy a US made product, if you plan on using it a lot.Wink

That's true JC.  What's missing, is the opportunity to buy an el-cheapo, and yet still be made in USA.

LOTS of things went into making that the case, obviously.

When your rough on some things, like grinding sl*g and grit, do you put your best grinder in there to get chewed up by the grit, or take a cheapie and grind away not feeling bad about keeping your good grinder for years to come...?  Neighbor buys the cheapest grinder he can find and burns them up that way... I wouldn't want to loan him my grinder cuzz I don't want it smoked when it comes back.LOL...   There is a time and a place for everything. Wink
