new WD/WD45 manifold stud bolts???

OK, finally got around to working on the WD again to replace the manifold including new bolts which was a good idea since 2 broke off at the nut and a 3rd snapped off at the head. After a little finesse with a drill and then a really narrow flat blade screwdriver, I was able to get the broken stud out of the threads without hurting the threads. I have already run a tap through all 6 holes to clean up the threads and am ready for re-assembly with the replacement manifold. The stud bolt set that I think I had ordered from DJS Tractor parts are the exact same length as the original ones but the threads go further in on both ends than they do on the original. If I thread them into the head as far as they will go, I will not have enough threads sticking out the other end with the manifold on to get the nuts on. My thought was to install nuts onto the ends going into the head so that just enough threads were exposed equal to what was on the original bolts. That way, the new bolts would stop and tighten up when the nut reached the head surface which should leave enough length to put the manifold on and get the nuts on the end to secure it. I was just curious before I proceed if others have come across this before and dealt with it the same way successfully or even have done something different that I am not thinking about that worked even better than this. Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Put a little red lock-tight on the head side of the studs, thread in as far as you want.  Let sit overnight, and then install the manifold.  If you ever have to remove the studs, heat with a propane torch, to make the lock-tight release...Wink

When you pull tension on the manifold it will seal up any as the threads will be under tension.
