I have my C split in 3 to replace the clutch shaft and main transmission shaft. I have the pto housing off and the transmission shaft as far forward as it will go. How do I get at the snap ring so I can get the shaft all of the way out. The service manual doesn't fully explain it or I'm just not getting it. Do I have to take off the final drive housing to get at it? I think I may be in over my head. Thanks, Joe.Confused

I have always removed the finals and stripped the case bare to clean so I could inspect every part and reassembled. It has been a few years but I don't remember any disassembling problems. There is a cup in the upper back that oils the short shaft that fills with crud that would be hard to clean with the gears in.

With the help of a friend the transmission is apart. Waiting for a few parts and reassembly will begin. Thank you, Joe
