Does anyone know what fluid is recommended and how much is needed for the hydro pump?

I was told by the local dealer to put a multi purpose hydro/trans fluid in my 712. I spend the $53 on the simplicity filter, but he said the fluid does not matter where you get it. I got some at Family Farm and Home. A one gallon jug will get the job done with some extra.
