I bought a D15 two years ago and have not done much with it other than a 82s side mower for field edges. Got it out last week and put new antifreeze in it and was thinking about replacing the rear tire tube as it is leaking. This evening I used it to get the soybean planter out of the shed and back it into the shop. The engine started making a slight hammering sound. I idled it down and it shut off. I had just checked the oil but did so again and it was full and the engine oil pressure was clear over very good. It started back up but still had the hammering. It sounds like it is in the top part of the engine. I shut it down and was not sure what to do when I noticed some antifreeze leaking out the overflow. I loosened the radiator cap and had lots of pressure in the radiator. It pushed out lots of antifreeze but the antifreeze was cold. I had been running it about 10 minutes. What happened and where do I start? It might have to be a project for next winter but I was looking forward to raking some hay and a few other chore jobs with it this summer. Thanks Tom

Those engines are known for head gasket problems. As  i rememberthe fix was to replace the headgasket with a D14 headgasket . The D15 headgasket did not firerings.

Bought a I600 forklift (same motor) with blown head gasket, replaced it. Ran it about two weeks and blew again. Made fire rings, new head gasket, has ran five years now with no problem.     MACK

While you are checking out your head gasket; check out your rocker shaft stands for cracks/broken one(s) and for bent/worn rockers.
What this country needs is more unemployed politicians-and lawyers.

Last time I did one, Victor still had the correct gasket with fire ring. Most go bad between 2-3 cylinder. Tracy
