Anyone have a good Nelson muffler for a D14 they want to sell or does anyone still make them (the correct way)? This Stanley stuff just don't excite me. I use this tractor several hours every week and want it to sound decent and not like a tin can. If I'm gonna spend what they want for a tin can I'd rather spend a little more to get a better sounding muffler.

AJ, here's a copy of a response that I posted over on the Classifieds section a few minutes ago.
The Nelson 05388T (WD45) is still available through Nelson. The Nelson 04566T (CA,D14) was still available through Nelson a few years ago, but I'm not sure now. The last inquiry I sent to Nelson regarding the 04566T indicated a long lead time (months). I bought the last three 04566T mufflers that my local distributor had in stock about three years ago. The price was not for the faint at heart. The good news is that the Nelson-style muffler for the CA (integral mounting flange) is now available on the aftermarket as RMD mentioned above. I bought one from DJS last year at Hutch (DJS #AC-3156D) but have not mounted it yet, so I can not vouch for the sound. The exterior construction is similar to the Nelson and older Walker style though. http://www.brianahart.net/mufflers.htm Shoot me a text if you want some pics of the DJS muffler. |
