D10 series I live lift option

   Looking at pictures of a D10 series I with the live lift option the hydraulic pump and reservoir looks a lot like some of the D12 series III I’ve seen pictures of with modified power (hydrostatic) steering. Will this series I unit work on the D12series III to supply power for hydrostatic steering? I would also need an orbit valve and ram plus hoses and brackets to mount ram. I’m just not sure if the series I live power lift unit will bolt up to the D12 and if this idea will even work. I saw a post on the forum from Andrew that had a modified steering on a D12 - I think. Looks great. Not sure how it is powered. My D12 series III has steering problems. I found all the parts I need except the worm gear. My worm gear will still work but has a lot of wear visible. I know it’s just a matter of time before I have more trouble. I’m looking for other options to replace the steering. I was hoping for some advice. All discussion is greatly appreciated.

	The worm gear is spin welded to steering shaft. You can have a good tool and cutter grinder shop, true up the grooves in the worm. Shouldn't take a lot to true them up. Then dress the rotating pin to same size of groove in worm. Should take care of most all the problems. HTH Tracy

	Thanks. To help my feeble mind understand the process - the worm grooves would be cut slightly larger until they are uniform. The rotating pin would have to be “built up” and then turned down to fit the worm gear?

	This is a picture of the D10 series I live lift option pump and reservoir. Do you think this will bolt up on a D12 series III and can be used to power improvised hydrostatic steering ?

	To answer the question that you’re asking: yes everything will bolt up from a D10 ont your D12. The blocks are the same for both tractors and the hydraulic is the same PSI and flow that you need for a light duty hydrostatic power steering system.
	If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

	Thanks Paul. I was not sure. I have not been able to cross reference these later model D12’s with the pump shown in the picture. Now I have to decide if I want to invest this much in the tractor. Thanks again.

	These are a couple pictures posted to the forum by Andrew I referred to earlier. I believe this is a series II and wasn’t sure if this same setup would work on the series III. Anyway thanks again Paul.
