In the process of restoring my D15 Series II. Looking for advice for the proper color black on the lights. Is it gloss or semi-gloss? Also, should the generator or anything else be painted black. It is currently orange but black paint is underneath. Thanks for the help.

My old generator and starter were black. I'm going to stay with an alternator, but I'm thinking about painting it black. I've seen a few that way, I think it looks a little more authentic.

Alternators never look authentic on old tractors.
Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.

x2.

I always use gloss black on headlights, generator, air cleaner, starter, coil and also did the distributor on my D15.  I think it shows extra effort and detail ...

I wish there was a guide compiled by the guys who saw them new first hand (Bill Long!) and know for certain what colors things were.

I drove a 1962 d 15 home from the dealer when I was thirteen years old.  The starter, generator, distributor  were all black. I still have the tractor  and they are still black.
