Washed the WD and toys this morning, getting ready for the 4th of July parade in the morning.  I painted my side shields today.  I can't decide if I like them or not.

Whats the deal with the side shields? Some kind of factory option? I have never seen them before, they kind of take away from the nice curved hood lines IMO.

They are engine shields for mounted corn pickers.  They were supposed to keep most of the junk off of the engine while picking firld corn.  I think I tend to agree, I like seeing the engine better.   Maybe its all the time I spent cleaning and painting the engine that makes me want to look at it.

This is what it looks like nekkid.

Adam, that looks terrible with those side shields! I'll PM my address so you can send them to me and I'll dispose of them for you!

Actually, you have a very nice piece with or without the shields. For a parade, and the risk of extra heat build up, I'd leave them off.

Those shields look nice Adam, you did a good job on them, but I believe the tractor looks better with out them. Just my worthless opinion.

Jamie, those weights would look good in the back of my truck!!!

It looks like both Adam and I could each use one of those weights cause it looks like he's "just one shy of a load" and so am I.  LOL

Adam, It's your tractor so it's your way on the side shields.
I think you have done a first rate job on the old WD, And she will shine with or without them!!!!

The side shields look great on the tractor, however, I tend to like the look of the engine components more. Wish mine was ready to pull out of the garage under her own power.

Someday I will have a pretty parade machine . I keep the side shields on in the winter and when not using much in the summer, they keep new plug wires and cap from fading !!
