I did a search and wanted to confirm for a WD45:
Tractor Supply Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid for the trans/diff/clutch housings? (I don't have a manual)
Can I use 80/90?

I think, but am not sure that there are 3 separate compartments on a WD45. The hydraulics, transmission clutch, and transmission/differential. The finals and trans use 80-90 for sure. The hydraulics can use universal tractor hydraulic fluid, and I think the trans clutch also uses the universal hydraulic fluid. Some one will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure there are 3 drain plugs on it.

Tim; there are two compartments, other than the final drives, that contain oil. Use 20 weight non-detergent OR a hydraulic oil in the front compartment and use 80-90 in the transmission and differential compartment. The front compartment has the hydraulics, the hand clutch, PTO drive, and belt pulley. I know that the transmission and differential compartment has three drain plugs these are for draining the different levels. Fill this come partment with 80-90 until it runs out the fill hole. It will take about 17 quarts. The front compartment will take about 5 quarts depending on if you have a PTO gearbox and or a belt pulley.

ATF foams to much if use in the hyraulics and hand clutch. Every old timer I know and my grandfather when alive ran straight SAE30 ND in all 3 because they do cross over from time to time. The people that run what used to be the AC dealership in town and have a large collection of WC's, WD's, and WD-45's do the same.

I run hytran in everything in the 45. Have for most of 30 years with no problems. You only need to keep 1 kind of fluid around and if it mixes like MJJ says it won't be a problem.

What weight is this Hytran fluid? Is Hytran the name or is there a manufacturer name?
I assume the final drives would still use the 80-90 gear oil correct?

It's like 20w hydraulic transmission fluid. Most meets the AC specs for later tractors, is anti foaming. Yes I still use 80-90 in the finals.

Hy tran can be gotten at places like TSC or your local auto parts place. It's also known as "Universal Tractor Fluid". I was pretty sure there was a "3" involved in it somewhere...
