Anybody got one, use one, hate one, love one? A neighbor has offered me one field ready (I know usually a lie) for $4000. Always been sheded and it's a neighbor I trust. It's a twine only 5x4 fixed chamber, soft core I think. Opinions?

I'm pretty sure that they are a US made copy of a Krone baler. The Krone baler that I've been around has always been very easy to use, although the twine handling system can be cantankerous and sensitive to adjustment. Parts would be my concern. Only being able to make one size bale is a pain too, especially since it's hard to mow just the right amount of hay so all of your bales are good and tight without having any left over. The price seems high for an oddball baler too, but condition and parts availability are everything.

I agree the parts are a little scary. He told me he has several spare parts. I think if they had to buy one then they bought 2 or more. If I'm not mistaken M&W is owned by New Idea

Check for bent bars and cracked shafts on the elevator srive. They are simple, but not the heaviest built machine. Keep spare bearings for the bars, as they can go out without notice. We traded ours in for a krone variopack 1500 about 10 years ago and that was one of the best decisions we ever made.

I have a Krone baler made by M&W. It has 25,000 bales on it. It was new in 1988. It has the original baler chain and bars. Except for one bar that got bent by injesting a large rock. I just replaced the chains and sprockets on the pick up and the main drive chain. It has always been stored inside and never washed. It is the easiest baler to run.
I just bought a 1745 Heston/ Massey with the advanced controller. The Massey came from the dealer with nothing properly adjusted so first season was a pain but it runs pretty slick now.
