I purchased an exact match seat assembly, frame and cushions from a Serco Loaders supplier, for our 185(1975) Serco uses the Milsco (Milwaukee Seat Co) seats on their timber loaders, similar to the seats on the 1975 185 with the thick black cushions and grid type pillowing on the seat and back cushion. I believe Allis Chalmers used that style of seat in the 100 Series tractors in the mid/late seventies. The Serco Dealer was in Eganville, Ontario, but you should be able to find a Dealer in areas where tree harvesting equipment is sold. The Serco website has info on their dealer locations, and pictures of the seats on the various loaders they sell. It took me a year to track down the seat, but it was worth the hunt.

The new seat assembly is exactly the same as the seat that was on our brand new 185, when the dealer delivered it to our farm in May, 1975!!!

I bought seat cushions made by K&M. They have steel cores unlike some made with wooden cores.

There are two different seat styles for the 200 (earlier & later serial numbers), hence the different bolt pattern. The older 200s would use the k&m seat AC210 bottom and back (vinyl or cloth). I don't remember the numbers for the newer seat.

Here is the Milsco seat on our 1975 185. As noted in my earlier post, it is an exact match, cushions, frame, to the original seat that came with the tractor. It bolted right on to the 185 seat base.

Mike,
Go to www.sercoloaders.com

There is a dealer in Syracuse, Frank Tartaglia, 5867 East Molloy Road, 315-455-0100

The website has pics of the seat on the loaders.

Good luck. Let me know if you would like to discuss further

Mike,

Serco Loaders sell and service the loaders. The seats are a replacement part for the factory installed seat. From what I could understand from the dealer I called they sell a lot of the seats, probably due to the working conditions for the losders, outdoors all the time, in the bush!!

I sent the dealer a picture of my old seat and he confirmed the new one was an exact match. Perhaps your dealer in Syracuse could do the same.

A Milsco rep in Milwaukee gave me the lead to Serco Loaders / Two Harbours Machine in Minnesota. He was very elusive as to why these seats are not available to the normal tractor seat replacement suppliers network on the Internet.

Then again, the whole transition from Allis Chalmers to what it is today is a sad story.

Good luck with your seat purchase

That 185 is my new screen saver, sure is nice looking.
Added benefit of seeing where my new to me 185 has had some lines run that I did not think were original on the hyd pump.
Pic are always nice, especially when the unit looks that good.

Mike,

Good to hear you have a dealer and seat choice if you proceed with the Milsco seat. I can assure you the quality is the same as the original from Allis Chalmers - our lasted for 30 years, however it was protected by a cab.

Darrel, Tim,

Thank-you for the feedback. The 185 was one of the best from Allis Chalmers. The extra hoses and filter beside the engine oil filter were from the Year-Around Cab that was on the tractor for its working days on the farm. The cab heater glycol water loop went thru the filter. The front wheels were reversed to handle larger tires, and it needs a new muffler!!!

The rest of the tractor is factory, with some new paint and decals.

Mike,

Congrats.  I have been very satisfied with my seat.  Allis Chalmers put a lot of those seats into their tractors in the mid seventies.

Mike,

Congrats on your new seat. It's great to see AC owners make the effort to maintain their equipment and replace worn items with original parts. I found the replacement Milsco Seat assembly to not only look just like the original factory issue but is just as comfortable.

Good luck with your installation!!!

Here is the pic of the seat on the 185 - I had removed it from the website to save memory space, but will leave it up for a while.

As noted previously in the posts above, Serco Loaders (forestry equipment) supplied the seat from their spare parts inventory at the local dealership. The Serco Dealer told me they sell a lot of the seats, due to the harsh working environment of the loaders.  Their website loader pics shows the seat on all of their loaders. A quick phone call to the local Serco Dealer should confirm availability.

Milsco (Milwaukee Seat Co) were very elusive when I talked to them about the seat several years ago.  They were the original supplier to Allis Chalmers in the mid/late seventies, when the seats were installed into the 100 Series Tractors and other models.  The Milsco rep would not discuss why the seat was not available to the numerous tractor seat suppliers that service the market.  He finally relented, when I explained to him I was just trying to fix up my old Allis Chalmers tractor to original equipment, and provided the lead to Serco Loaders.
