There are 3 versions of the mod M track chain . The 2nd and 3rd type has a wider rail width in other words the chain bars are 1.25" wide instead of 1" wide on the first type. Does any know of any problems mixing different chains with different year tractors ?

I would think the sprocket and roller width would be the limiting factors. If they fit inside should work. If the pitch of the chain is different that would be more troubling to work with. But from what I understood you to say that is not the case.

the width or the carrier rollers , idlers and if they run inside or outside on the rails is the limiting factors - the other is pitch of pin spacing and the width of the sprocket to accept the links .
