Hello , I just picked up a 1938 allis B #1801 ,,,, The tractor has a electric starter. was a starter a option on the 38's? or has the tractor been converted ? Thanks Allen

Converted. You had to change the bell housing and flywheel to add a starter. There were no tapped holes on the engine block for a generator mount and no place for a battery.

ok , mine has a chevy alternator mounted on it , the battery box looks to be in the correct spot . a friend has a hand start only bellhousing , Im not too sure im gonna change it , Im working on a RC and a D grader right now so the b pretty much came off the trailer and drove into the shed for now

I'm leaving the starter bell housing on my 35 WC. SIL's grandpa put it on many years ago so he wouldn't have to crank it, so it will stay on there.
