i didnt notice that the early serial numbers posted was the last of that year. and that later serials were the start.  how come they are listed that way??

anyway my great uncle has a super tight wd45( probly the tightest tractor iv ever seen )  and the serial number is 236870 or something so that would be pretty late

I don't know what you're talking about. The first WD-45 was in mid 1953 and started with s/n 146607. The first WD-45 tractor of 1954 was s/n 160386. The first of 1955 was s/n 190993. The first of 1956 was s/n 217992. The first of 1957 was s/n 230295 and the very last one made was in Summer of 1957 at s/n 236958. The D-17 replaced the WD-45 in the Fall of 1957 at s/n 1001.

drallis   at the top of the serial number reference it says
early serial numbers are the ending of each year

and then at the start of the d series it says serial numbers from here on are the beggining number for each year

i didnt know that thats how they was listed on there i was under the impression that the serial numbers shown  was the start not the end
