I recently visited my folks in southern Indiana. I was aware of a fellow - located about 45 miles from my folks - who had a G for sale. I wasn't really wanting another G but I was interested in "some stuff" that came with it. This G had a front weight, a usable, but not complete, plow, a cultivator and a PTO [not mounted on the tractor].
I visited this gentlemen, explained that my spouse would skin me if I acquired another tractor, and made an offer on the "stuff". He countered by dropping the price on the whole she-bang to a value that made something in my head go "ping". At this point a mental image of my wife's anger briefly surfaced causing my reptilian brain survival instinct to kick in. "I could do that price for everything", I replied weakly, "but I don't know how I'd get the tractor to my folk's farm." "There", I thought, "dodged that bullet". My adversary was ready - "Oh I could deliver it" - he said.
I am now the owner of G20304.

Don't worry about it Scott. If your wife's like mine, she'll get over it in a month or two, and will never bring it up again. Except every other day or two, maybe more if you even mention the word "tractor", or make mention of buying anything bigger than a stick of gum for yourself.LOL!
Nice looking unit there. Back rims and tires look really nice.
What part of GA do you live in? Don't be too specific, I might want to come over and take that G for a "test drive". Just kidding.

Dream,
I live in Peachtree City - about 25 miles south of Atlanta. This tractor is in southern Indiana at the moment though.
Most of the above "story" - as it pertains to my bride - is fiction. I've got a good one and I beleive she is (generally) slightly amused by the rusty junk I bring home. I will say that she is seems delighted [actually I think she is completely astonished] when I do some horse trading and someone else takes a rusty "thing" from the house without me paying them something to take it away.
I think all spouses are amazed that there are other fellows besides their guy that has this interest. I'm a pilot for Delta Air Lines and a couple of years ago my copilot was a farm boy from Nebraska. We talked tractors all the way across the Pacific as we red-eyed from Hawaii to Atlanta. A couple of months later I was again in Hawaii and I happened across this pilot as I stopped into a Starbucks for a cup of coffee. We exchanged greetings and he introduced me to his wife who had come along on his trip. Suddenly he got a big grin on his face and he turned to his wife and said, "Hey, Scott's got a tractor too!" His wife put her head in her hands and I could imagine that she was thinking, "Oh my - I can't believe there's more than one of these guys".

Scott, I know all to well about these wife stories. My wife called me on the way to Illinois this morning to tell me that she saw an Allis Chalmers tractor for sale. She said she would call me on the way back and give me the details. It was funny hearing my wife talk to me explaining there looked to be 6 spark plug thingees on the side of the motor but they had metal lines connected to it. After drilling her for awhile, and talking her to where the serial number is, I found out it is a D17 series three diesel. In the meantime the owner came outside and I talked to him on the phone and he is sending me pictures. And I asked her tonite, now if I buy another tractor, how can you be mad at me as you are now looking for them for me.

Scott, since you have family flight privileges, you could always suggest she share the jump seat for, what is it, 11 hours to Hawaii. It's the least you could do to keep her happy after getting such a nice "G"
P.S. If, on the other hand, she no longer speaks, etc. to you until you get rid of THAT TRACTOR!!!, I'm interested - I'm also single - I wonder if there's a connection?
P.S. That's I'm interested in the G, not your wife.

Yes Scott, I have been through Peachtree city on more than one occasion. I am a service representative(glorified mechanic) for an overhead crane and material handling company.
I was slightly exaggerating about the wife reaction. My wife is generally understanding about most of my habits. She was never raised on a farm, so she has no understanding of these things. She also does not have the sentimental value or pride in heritage that I do.
She could not care less about what I do with my tractors, as long as the grass is mowed and the honey-do list is kept under two pages. Occasionally I hear " I don't know why you want to spend so much time and money on that old thing, it doesn't even have a cab with heat and air conditioning". As I said, she doesn't grasp the concept. She is a wonderfull lady in spite of this, and her other positive attributes more than offset the "Allis ignorance". I would be completely lost without her.
I would imagine being a pilot for Delta would be a fairly nice profession. I had a classmate who's father flew for them. He retired a few years ago. Last name Harrover, I believe his first name was John. Again, you have a very nice G. Have any plans on bringing it to GA, or just going to leave it with the parents?

I do plan to bring this tractor from Indiana to Georgia some time. I've got one G here in Peachtree City & 2 G's in Indiana.
