small garden tractor ag tires.

Need to put a set of ag tires on my little JD 240 they are 23x10.50-12. Prices vary a lot between brands. Other than the "buy american" thing is there any real advantage to spending over 250 on a pair of Carlisle tires when I can pick up an off brand for $130 or so? The tractor is a 94 and has original tires on with about 50% tread they just finally dry rotted and its time to upgrade to ags for the hills I mow now.

my old supplier has bkt listed for 80.00 each.

i was actually looking a deestones. seem descent, my biggest concern is that they will dryrot much sooner

How much smaller are you talking? The chen shins on the miller tire site are only .3" smaller than the Carlisle. I can't seem to find real specs on the deestones.

I have a set of  loaded Deestones I use when moving snow. As they are mounted on a spare set of rims I take them off in the spring and put the turfs back on. The ag tires cause too much damage to my lawn. Are your tires really dry rotted or just weather checked? It's rare for rear tires to require replacement. I have two 1976 Case garden tractors with the original rear tires. Other than being weather checked they are in good shape.

I do most of my mowing with a woods on a c. But there are some ugly banks that the c won't do well so I meex the grip. The turfs on it now won't hold air longer than a few hours and tubes cost too much to put into a set of crapy tires. I'm also looking for a snow blower so the AGS will be good for that.
