I am fixing up my 6060 and it needs new tires.  18.4's are almost twice as much as 16.9's,  $2600 vs $1500.   I use the tractor to pull 3 bottom 14 inch plows and a 8 ft. brush cutter.  Tires will be loaded and there are 3 weights on each wheel.  Is there a reason I shouldn't go with the 16.9's?

16.9 is the size you need. Most guys oversize the tractors with stupid lookin big fat tires. With all the weight you are going to add,---- if 16.9 dont hold it back---bigger wont either.

18.4’s will not work well with a 14” plow unless you offset it some. I don’t really like 18.4’s on 16”.

Will make a slow road-gear even slower, but that may not be an issue for you.

The rule of thumb, was to not have a tire much more than 2 inches wider than the width of your plow bottoms. Otherwise, your furrow wheel will be running on the soil you just need plowed.

16.9x28 tires are the correct size for your tractor. If a previous owner put 18.4x28 tires on it you will need new tubes in the new tires. The old tubes will be stretched out and will wrinkle if you reuse them. I just checked with my old tire suppliers. The price you quoted for the tires should include new tubes. Do you have a loader on this tractor? If you have 3 weights on it, I cannot see you needing fluid in your new tires unless there is a loader on it.

According to AGCOPARTSBOOKS.com, the 6060 had a 14 inch wide rim for 16.9 x 28 tires and a 15 inch wide rim for the 18.4 x 28 tires.  I've never seen one with 16.9 x 28's. Always 18.4 x 28's.
