My flywheel has a line marked on it ,also a line with the  letter F and 25 degree sign. Which do you use to time engine, what  is each line for?  Which is TDC? It is on a D17 1959 model thanks.

Wide open throttle time at the "F-25" mark with a timing light.

I had it running well and it wont start at all, power to everything, coil, points, gets gas. So with engine off do I start at the one other line which is TDC?   #1cyl pressure pushing out finger, line is in sight hole ,line up rotor with #1 rotor post , tighten back down, points about ready to open, should start ?. I have a spray coupe with a volkswagon engine and if the points arent exact it WILL NOT RUN AT ALL. Maybe these tractors are point sensative?  what am I doing wrong?

The blank "line" is TDC..........F-25 is 25 degrees before TDC. Points to be set at .020".

I got it running again today, I re-timed it and it started but kinda rough so I loosened the dist while running and turned counter clockwise and it now literally purrrs, It sounds great. I hope that doesnt hurt it to adjust when running.
