Ok, I'm back begging prayers again.
When Lukas was diagnosed, they removed one testicle and found that the cancer had metastasized to a lymph node in his abdomen. Below is a post from his mom, Deanna (our daughter) who is an RN. She explains it better than I can. I've had several people ask me questions about Lukas recently, so I figured I'd post an update (with his permission). Lukas' primary tumor was a mixed type (this is common) of tumor that had three types of cancer cells in it. One type (the teratoma) is not susceptible to chemo, and unfortunately, that's the type they feel has moved. The plan is to go to Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC next week for a pre-op appointment, and then again on 12/18 for removal. This is pretty major surgery, and he's expected to be inpatient for a week, and he'll need some recovery time after. We appreciate all the thoughts, prayers, and good wishes, but from a practical standpoint, we seem to have it all managed. Right now, we just need some time to plan and process. Thank you all for the support. |
