Could not resist going on a 500 mile road trip today to to pick up the "other" orange thing. I figured for a 1000 dollars I would take a gamble. Never owned a Deere but thought might be able to make a few bucks on it if the boy doesn't like it. Missed a CA last week and called about a c for $400 today but couldn't get to it while driving to get the Deere. But hay there's more out there. Tiny little thing. fit in the back of my 99 ford. here is a few pics after packing into the shed.  I got all the sheet metal and parts to put it back together.  Most people when they go through the trouble to disassemble something, then sandblast it and primer it, you would think would plan on puting a good quality coat of paint on it as well. I believe we discussed this not to long back. he told me he had the paint to paint it with but look what he handed me. a whole box of it.  Ps. excuse the mess.

Im not shure if you know how rare the tractor you just bought is. Hears a link to a site that has some info and pictures of the John Deere MI. Mine is some where between 700 and 800 out of 1032 built (Ill get the serial number later tonight). I think you got a really good deal on that one!

So we have another cross dressing tractor in our midst! Looks to me that the orange Deere are loss common then the yellow. My serial # is 10184 if you know how to read if let me know.

If I read the web page you provided right, it would be the 183rd. MI tractor made. would have been nice to have been a little earlier to say it was actually made in 49, but 1950 model isn't bad.

Hay R.W. looking at the site you posted I see what you were talking about when you say the MI was rare. you look at the regular M you see they produced 45,799. then you look at the MT and see a run of 30,472. And even the MC crawler they made 10,509. So 1,032 for the MI does seem very low.

Hears mine its yellow not orange and has a loader its been sitting in this spot for about 15 years hopefully next week we will get it in the shop and get it running.

Thanks for the post RW. And may I say that loader looks heavier then the tractor. Looks like yours needs some TLC like mine. let me know how she cleans up and I will do the same. Looking for some paint for mine. so I can get started on it. in the mean time I;m trying to finish a clean up on my 953 Wheelhorse. don't know which one is rarer.
