Great reference! However, I notice that the section on hydraulics uses the term ‘power booster’ for the weight transfer system. The correct term is ‘Traction Booster’.
Oliver Corporation used the term ‘Power Booster’ for their optional shift-on-the-go clutch on the 770 and 880 tractors. Edited by TramwayGuy - 23 Oct 2018 at 6:02am |

Just bought a Allis Chalmers B model that need governor work . The tractor bogs down when going up a hill?? Also bought a Model C that gasoline tank leaks and is a narrow front that need replace wheel slop is bad. Any help on gasoline tank leak or the Engine bogging down?? Going to due a tune up kit on B to see if that helps bogging ??

Welcome Glen... you posted in the Farm Equip KNOWLEDGE BASE, where we store TOPICS that come up over and over... The Post Area above Knowledge Base is FARM EQUIPMENT .... You will get a LOT more answers in that area.
Some with a small gas leak have removed the tank, cleaned and put JB WELD over the area.. Others have used a couple layers of fiberglass to patch.. Engine bogging down could be governor if it is not working.. Could also be timing or loss or gas in carb... Go to the FARM EQUIP area and start a post. Others will explain how to set the governor and test.

I may have missed this on the little Allis History
Bs rear rims and clamps on 38 Bs were split rims. Cast iron clamps for the split rims Only were used. In 39 B rims were made by firestone using Cast iron clamps for these rims. Clamps fit over and behind 4 tabs mounted to the bottom of the tire beads on these rims. The clamps used 1/2 inch excentric bolts. Sometime after 39 Clamps that fit over 4 bump using 3/8 bolts . Two plain , two excentric to the end of B production I need to learn how to post pictures. B front wheels evolved to. From cast iron 38 wheel center to 39 stamped centers riveted to then to conventional 5 hole front rims. Hope this helps to restore early Bs back like they were when new. Good luck finding old B parts. Early Bs also had single rib front tires
