WOW,,,I just got my bill for the yearly lease for the small bottle of oxygen (6" X 42") I use. I used to have the big cylinders of Oxygen and the acytelyene and after the price of acytelyne kept going UP,,,I turned in their acetylene bottle and their BIG Oxygen cylinder and started using propane,,much cheaper,,!! NOW,,what to do about the $166.50 yearly lease for their "SMALL" oxygen bottle??

Desertjoe Do like I did a few years ago and buy the oxygen tank. Just exchange tanks and only pay for the oxygen.

eons ago my dad bought the BIG tank and never looked back! I still do the exchange today on that same set of torch tanks! IF it takes 2 days or 2 years to empty them,--- no biggie! If not for owning them I would not have a torch!

I've been having the same issues. i've had a contract with Liquid Air for 25 years and the last few years they have been jacking their prices and "fees". Last straw was a few months ago, the bill to refill my 02 bottle was $218 including a charge of $34 for me to pick up the bottle from the supplier! This was on top of the yearly lease. I found another supplier closer to me and took a stale dated bottle I had and they took it in exchange for a full one of the same size. price was $98. Same size bottle as the L.A one and no lease charge as I owned the bottle.

What do you do if they exchange your property new or newish tank with an expired tank?

Wouldn't happen. Those that fill the tanks won't fill an expired tank. When I return my empty one, they give me a full one and I pay for the gas in the full tank.

I have around 15 bottles now 4- 312/322 bottles for Argon / CO2 for wire feed , 1 Argon bottle , 2 MAP , 3 Acetylene , 2 oxygen 312 , 3 -122 oxygen.
Had a lifetime lease and then outfit started sending me notices I needed to renew my lease and a yearly fee also . Changed suppliers , they marked bottles as customer owned and last time a $12 fee to recertify bottle out of date . So the name rings on bottles are from several different suppliers but place I use now to fill doesn't care said IF I have the bottle it must be mine - so just get same bottle back in a few days . I had several 15 pound fire bottles (CO2) and changed valves over and refill them myself as spares or doing field work where a small bottle is easy to move . Bought propane tips for cutting so seldom use acetylene now - but need to get one bottle filled , but many places don't sell it now |

I have eight or so large bottles but don't know the cu. ft. capacity but several are "T", and "K" series Linde, Union-Carbide, etc. I've owned these over 40 years myself but have only ever purchased a lease on a "Q", and "WQ" small tanks. I do pay a once a year $17.50 maintenance fee whether I exchange one, or a hundred tanks per year and they keep all in date. Only pay for the contents of course and the effn environmental fees that have been tacked onto the invoice. There is a $3.50 "environmental fee", (changed from hazardous contents) for each invoice whether you buy a welder's pencil, or a 10,000 gallon liquid oxygen setup. I bitched the first time I had to pay the hazardous charge for an oxygen tank refill..... As mentioned in another thread I mostly use my "Turbo Torch" for any heating but still use acetylene and use no oxygen. Also do silver soldering and brazing with the setup. For cutting mostly I use one of the two plasma cutters I have one being 35A, the other 100A both being "Hypertherm". Shop air is a lot cheaper than bottled oxygen. I still use a cutting torch, but not nearly as often as in the past.

I just sold a medical oxygen unit that produces breathable oxygen , to a person who does jewelry mfg . She was renting small bottles or getting the small bottles like use on propane torch . Since getting it she found it handles her small jewelry torch fine , output of unit gives her all the oxygen she needs .
Friend brought over a 312 Oxygen tank what was marked Medical Oxygen that was left in a house he bought , my supplier just updated expiration tests stamp and marked as customer bottle and filled it . |
