Hi folks
Have to say I am about ready to give up on this little b.
Had the mag rebuilt and it was starting beautifully for a bout 3 weeks. I was starting it often and it would fire on the 2nd pull.
Left it for about 3 weeks and just this evening I could not get it to fire.
I have this year rebuilt the carb and replaced pugs and leads which are all set up correctly.
The plugs don’t appear to be wet tonight!!
My fuel bowel is clean with a few bits at the bottom.
I have been tapping the carb with a piece of wood just in case the float is stuck.
Any way given up this evening. Have drained the fuel from the carb and taken the cover off the tractor and hopefully the sun will bake everything off and I can have another go tomorrow.
What do you reckon though? Another carb clean?
Maybe a tank clean and seal?
Frustrating that it was starting so great.
Any advice as always much appreciated.

From across the pond,  Thank you so much for what you are doing to "save my favorite"  I can fully understand your frustration with the situation.
I am at a loss to add much.  I do remember one of the damnedest problems we had with the B was a rag in the gas tank.  Your situation doesn't really sound like that is the problem.
We had another situation where the tractor was sitting in a heavy stone building.  It was a damp season and the dampness of the surroundings of the B caused the tractor not to start.  We solved the problem with a distributor replacing the mag.  May be even more successful with the new electronic distributor.
Please do not give up.  There is an answer.  I hope the "best mechanics I have never met" find this thread and hop in with outstanding advice.

It the float valve had any thing in it you would have fuel dripping. Remove the plug from the bottom of the carburetor and catch a pint or more fuel to check if you have a constant flow. If you do not check at the bottom of the fuel tank. If you have some fines in the sediment bowl you might have the neck of it full of fines that would let some fuel thru but not enough. If the sediment bowl has a good screen it would be unlikely that fines would be in the carburetor.

Its hard to see a spark and hand crank but it can be done by grounding a plug base where you can see it using a long plug wire.

If you can not see spark check for the magneto being grounded out where you can manually short it out to kill the engine. If you have a switch remove the wire from it. The switch just grounds out the magneto. If a wire runs from the magneto across the front of the engine, look for a bare wire.

I has to be something simple since it was starting easy before.

something is stuck in the main jet... take off bowl and clean... and put an inline filter on it.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I agree an inline filter will catch all sorts of stuff that will go thru a screen in the
sediment bowl.Get a clear one so you can see what is being filtered out.

In line filter on gravity fed systems is not great
Sediment bowel has a new filter/wire gauze.
Fuel is getting to the carb just fine it’ flows freely rfrom the bottom plug and from the flood hole

I have inline filters on at least half a dozen gas tractors with gravity system no problem with gas flowing IF they are NOT clogged with crap or have had water run thru them which is fine since I don't want foreign crap or water to go to the carb.The fact you are getting
something in your carb shows that the screen in the sediment bowl is not doing a good job of filtering the gas.
