Last week I bought a distributor from Gary in the UP for my S1 D17 as the poor old Hooter had a heck of a miss and I knew the dist was worn, but wasn't sure it was all of my problem. I finally got the time to drop in the dist this week and wow what a difference! It's like a whole new engine. It absolutely purrs. I ran the disk thru the garden and it was so smooth I couldn't believe it. Lots of power and I can actually open the throttle all the way up without feeling like it is going to shake apart. Now I will have to buy a muffler as the straight pipe is too loud with engine running so well - she cracks a bit when the throttle goes open or closed. Really nice, but will sound better with a muffler. When I pulled the old dist out, there was some milky oil on the shaft gear which is a little puzzling - condensation? I assume the dist is oiled from the governor line so shouldn't the oil be running on thru and not having any time for condensation? cheers, Creek |
