I have bought a WD45 with a tranny that jumps out of 1st and 3rd, it has the curved shifter. I have a WD with a good tranny and straight shifter. I was wondering if these are the same and can be swaped. I see the tranny and rear appears to be 1 unit. Do I switch the whole thing? Will the WD trannry and rear hold up to WD45 HP? Thanks Todd

Todd, Yes you can change the trans and rear end unit out of your WD into the WD45 tractor as a unit. And Yes the WD trans and rear end will take the HP of the WD45.
With that said I'd just change the engine out of the WD45 into the WD, But that is just the way I'd do it. lol
3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep.

Either way will work ok.Pick the best of both and "marry" them. The 45 will have a 3 plate hand clutch VS 2 plate in WD (unless someone changed it).Not much work to swap clutches once trans is out of torque tube.

Mid 1954 was when they put 3 plate hand clutches in WD-45s.
