Got ours the other day. Didn't hurt any. Christmas Eve the water heater decided to boil you alive instead of a nice warm shower. Looked inside the tank to see if it was still viable with my handy dandy vehicle butt probe. Ordered the parts online. Got them the next Monday. Can't fix it till New Years week end cause my ass is generally kicked when I get home from work. Wife didn't want to hear the screams from me taking a cold shower. I didn't either. Tuesday after Christmas got home and honey says the dryer quit again. I had to laugh. Told her I wasn't fixing that SOB again. Had it for 15 years, time for another. Took a tour of the house to make sure nothing was going to explode or cave in. Might as well buy everything at once. Found another that fit her specs the next day, online of course. I don't go in to town ever if I don't have to. Can't get it till the day after New Years, Sat**day. Kept it local, no big city chit. Of course Shameless decided to target this area with 1/2" ice and 3-4" of snow. Wasn't white knuckle, kind of like playing dodge ball with the other drivers and I was the target. Gotta love it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Bout 4-5 months ago our "New Fangled" washer started throwin a shoe and gettin the wash and rinse cycles AFU,,,but biggest peeve was you could NOT open the lid to add another piece till the computor decided it would let you,,I tried to "BYPASS" the switch on lid but NO CAN DO,,!! SO,,I went to a repair shop and looked around and,,he had two "old Timers" for the price of the part needed to fix mine!!! I Bought them both and now I got a spare and I just LOVE that washer cause I can open the friggin lid whenever I want to,,at least if it ain't started the rinse cycle. Fact is,,you can start the tub filling with water while you add clothes,,,,,that right there is PROGRESS,,!!

Guess it happens to all of us... had our 2004 GE refridge go stupid dead over Christmas and no one were open till the following Monday. I called around and one place said they had NO refrigerators for the last 6 months. Another said they had 130 units back ordered. and another said they were 40 units behind. One fellow said when he started selling appliances, the fridges were good for about 14-15 years, now down to about 7 years. Another place said to stay away from the LG and the Samson line because he has worked on so many of them. His advice was to stick with Maytag or Whirlpool line. Found a small shop that had a Whirlpool 22 cu.ft. bottom freezer refridge in white. Then we went to Menards and looked. They had one in black and to get a white model would be mid February... but they had a 25 cu ft french door... 1800 bucks for a 7 year life expectancy? OUCH. Went back to the small shop and took the 22 Cu ft home. Cheryl wanted a little something different than the standard so... Sure looks more congested than the store picture. ![]() ![]() ![]() Would have been nice to had that frenchie door one. But would have been just another door to open probably cuzz ya forgot whichside something was on. ![]() ![]() |

question ....
Does everyone get a stimulus check ? Even pensioners ?? JAY--- its my understanding that EVERYONE who makes less than $75K single or $150K married will get $600. EACH... and i think each kid below 16 years old gets $500. Dont matter if you are working, retired, welfare... basically covers EVERYONE. Thats part of the argument right now in the SENATE... They want to give more money if your OUT OF WORK, or NEED it... If your retired, the WUHAN did not effect your $$ much.

My frig died back in Dec and went looking - most places were backorder 3 months , then I needed a 34" and next to impossible - so looked up online what went wrong - control board - Dealer wanted $350 for the board and $100 to install
Found new board online from a dealer in PA - 2 days delivery $180 - installed next day and working again - did have to program it and did cuss some in trying to do that but now have that down also . Got my direct deposit of the $600 on Jan 1 . Oh the drier thing old one broke the belt , no one makes or handles the belt but found on online , waited 3 weeks and no belt , called them - said they mailed it but it must have gotten lost - gave me a refund . I bought a V belt and used mill to cut most of V off leaving the backing and cords - it worked for 2 years , then when it broke I tried to cut another one - belt hung up on mill cutting backing also , went out and got new washer and drier the next day . |

I've repaired my whirlpool drier 3 times . First time resoldered the relay board. 2nd time replaced the heating element 3rd time replaced the relay board got all the parts online. Less than $100 for all the parts the relay board did have a $100 core charge but the part was $350 from the appliance store and they need a week to get it. I've repaired the washer twice. No parts required just took 3 days of searching the Internet to find out the code that' requires a dealer service is take the front panel off remove the filter strainer catching all the water in 2 5 gal buckets clean it reset the control panel and you back in business. 2 NS time was a 5 minute job. But that strainer isn't in the manual and the F03 code means buy new washer according to the appliance dealer.

Dang, I'm confused! Do I need to talk about stimulus checks, refrigerators, or dryers???
![]() ![]() All the appliances built these days are designed to fail so they can sell more. Buy the simplest thing you can find and it will outlast the high end stuff. I don't have anything that is less than 16 years old. Got a 36 year old microwave at the farm that has the twist knob timer and a rheostat for the power level. I'm outta here!

If your income is under the amount to file taxes there is a relief check there for you - I thought all SS individuals get one also .
There is a site on GOV. ORG to request a check and also for the earlier $1200 one also is still there if you didn't get that . |

Bah....Bought a fridge 24 years ago, 50 miles from home on rolling twisty roads, trailered it FLAT, on a jet ski trailer I borrowed, all I had was a car. Stood it up for 36 hours and plugged it in. 3 years later, moved it 435 miles, plugged it in. 11 years after that, moved it 30 miles, plugged it in, still working (as of last night anyway) Can do better than that. Back in college, a friend and roommate paid me 1st month's rent with a used freezer. That was the fall of 1986. I don't know how old it was when he bought it. He brought it 325 miles to school. 3 years later I brought it 220 to my parent's place for 3 months, and then 350 miles to Dayton, OH. 1 year later, 140 miles across southern OH to Athens. 7 years later across town, then it follows the same trips as the fridge above. Still working (as of Sat**day afternoon last I was in it) |

Not sure which topic is in charge anymore but, about 10 years ago my nephew got a smaller fridge for his shop. The one he replaced was a early 1960's era Co Op. He is the roughshod type of guy and dumped the Co Op out in the woods for a few months, and one day I mentioned in passing that I needed a beer fridge in my shop, and lo and behold, the next day when I got home from work, here was that old Co Op laying in my yard. I could see that he wasn't gentle in unloading it from his trailer by the gouges in the dirt where he pushed it off. I made him come back over to help drag it into my shop, thinking there's no way in hell this thing still works after the treatment it had over the last few months, and the fact that it was 45 plus years old. We plugged her in and it still worked much to my dismay (I was kinda hoping it wouldn't as it was an unsightly power sucking pig). I ended up using it for about 5 more years, but I finally had to retire it because it cost a lot to run and even on it's warmest setting it was starting to freeze my beer. It seems those old refrigerators get colder with age, like some women. Sadly, it was still in working order when I hauled it to the dump. I did pry the Co Op emblem off of it as a memento, and it hangs on the wall in my shop.

Old gal said we got ours yesterday. So I went to town and spent it on liscense plates, some pork loin chops, and spent $60.00 at the hardware store. Would a spent more at the hardware store for some 1x12's to make more book cases. But this dang new pickup has a 6' 5" bed. Too short for hauling lumber. Thanks to "you know who" my pickup with the regular size bed is sitting behind a mountain of snow pushed up outta the driveway. I hate snow

The East St Louis Garage for UE we had a Ammonia Fridge, had the HUGE coil and compressor assembly on top of the box. Was close to forty years old and worked just fine. When they closed the garage one lineman tried to get it, company refused and ran a machine over it to damage beyond use, hauled to the recyclers.

Well,,bout a year ago,,I had some problems with the Electric CooP as the compressor on my 4 year old fridge went out to what I was sure were power surges. The next door neighbor had also lost two fridges in 5 years. Since I knew the CEO, I told him I wanted a Data Logger hooked into the main at my house and told him WHY. They did install one but was the new fangled ones that transmitted data back to their station so I could NOT see the data. I KNEW they were having "spikes" as early in the mornings, the massager I use on my back would sometimes surge up and down on the RPMs noticeable,,,, Bout a week later they sent a crew out and ran an all new line from the transformer to the meter and installed one of the New meters that transmits back to the station so they don't need the monthly "meter readers",,,??? I kept telling them the new line would not solve the surges by itself cause the line was still gonna transmit the surges TOO,,!! CHIT,,what did I know?? They wouldn't fess up what else they did to their system but my massager don't do that any more,,,,?? They never offered to pay for my fried fridge.

OH,,and another thing,,,when I went to dispose of the old fridge at the city dump, they would not let me as they said "You have to pay to get the system "Evacuated and refrigerent reclaimed" ,,Well,I could see money spent all over that statement so I go home, get some end nips and pinch a hose back where it aint visible and waited til next day and go back and they said ,,,,OK,,, That right there is Progress,,,??
