 Topic: Snap coupler blade ?'s

Hello. I have found a snap coupler blade that a guy has for sale and am thinking of picking it up. I was wondering if it could be disassembled easily to fit in the back of shortbed pickup?? What would it entail? What size wrenches, sockets etc needed? What's it weigh? Thanks! Ben

Put the drawbar up vertical and load it. Once in place you could swing the drawbar down, but if it won't fit lengthwise, you don't have to close the tailgate.

You don't say what your pick up is. If it is something like a Ford 150 with the short bed -- should fit without taking apart. Loading and unloading is the hard part. When I got mine the seller had it already in the bed of a pickup and we just slid it from his to mine. Back at the farm I unloaded with chains and a loader tractor. Seller said that he and his son loaded it --- strong fellows.

I bought one several years ago. When the promised FEL tractor at the seller's place was unavailable due to snow, my helper and I separated the blade from the frame to load it as it weighs several hundred pounds assembled. Took just a few minutes, though I don't recall what wrench sizes we used.

We are assuming it is an Allis blade. Some after market SC blades are out there. The main beam attaches to the blade frame with one really BA snap ring. If that ring comes off, the two parts separate quickly. (Boy, don't ask me how I know that!) As an aside, if anyone knows where to get a new snap ring, please let us know.

Sounds like Dave Richards and I have had a similar experience! It was pretty exciting when that ring broke. I fabricated a replacement "ring" - so far, so good.

I lifted mine in a tree, backed the truck/trailer under and loweered the blade into the trailer....at the other end revearse...

Someone was wondering what I had for a pickup. I have a F150 supercrew with the 6 ft box, but..... I have a toolbox in the front that takes up about 20 inches.... Ben

Would easily fit without toolbox. With the box, most likely you would have to take apart into two pieces or load with the tailgate down and strap her in good. If you can load and unload in one piece - I'd strap it and go. Comes apart as other have said with a snp ring if it is really Allis. Not real hard to get apart but do risk breaking the ring.

I hauled my A/C 3 pt. blade w. one extension home from the auction in the back of my full size PU ww. a topper.Auction had a boom tractor,chained it tight and he set it in back slicker than snot.Slid it out part ways and winched it down from a tree branch.

Rent a small trailer to pull behind your pickup; load the blade with the SC tongue towards the back of the trailer and tie it down, get home and slide it where it needs to be to reach the tractor, hoook up to tractor and drive away. SC blades are pretty easy to slide around on a trailer as they are not that heavy.
