How much would a guy have to give to get a disk like this in MN? How wide do you think this one is? Do the chains fit into the snaps or is another piece needed? |

Chains go to lift arms but I think you need or atleast should have the bar that goes between the latches for extra support due to the weight blades should be generic and readily available but not cheap Edited by Denis in MI - 07 May 2010 at 8:02pm |

Thanks Denis. I have the bar in place. Just looking for something handy for the D15 II - should make a decent combination, right?

I would think it would be a good match but I don't have alot of experience with d-series tractors, I don't know if the front end would get kind of light on you with the disk picked up but you should have enough tractor to use it.

Finding the spools shouldn't be a problem. The gottcha with all of those discs are the balpak bearings. They are only available at AGCO for like $160 each. I have a stack of the spools from a disc that I took apart, but no bearings. The blades are pretty generic, you may not find blades with the round hole, but you may be able to find some that will work.
That should be an eight foot disc. I have seen good ones sell for several hundred. One in that condition could still bring at least a couple hundred. The rule with discs is the smaller they are the more they will cost. You could put $500 in that one in parts without breathing hard. Heck, just new blades woiuld be will be from $16 to $20 each for 28 of them, you do the math. If you used a couple of used bearings for $30 to $60 each so there you have as much as $680 and you haven't bought any hardware, hangers, spools or bearing spacers. If you wanted to restore that thing to like new condition you could put $1000 into it.
When you got done you would have a great disc though. Edited by John (C-IL) - 07 May 2010 at 8:30pm |
