My wife does upholstery and covers for boats. A friend asked her to reupholster a small Ottoman.
So Anna is taking this ol thing apart and she hollars across the shop that the Ottoman has shredded money in it. So I get out of the boat I am working on to check it out.
Sure enough, it’s stuffed with shredded money along with other type of stuffing. The Ottoman looks to be factory made original.
Has anyone else come across this?

John,,,,I would QUICKLY ask the customer where they bought the ottoman and then even quicker,,,go to where they bought it and but all the other ones they might still have,,,,Ya never know,,,,,  ( you don't need to tell em what you found) THEN,,go buy plenty of scotch tape and get to work while you is watchin TV,,,,,,

If you can match up the pieces and tape them, won't the Bank replace it.
I certainly would be tempted if they were $100 dollar bills.

my understanding is the serial numbers are recorded and a new bil is issued to replace it.

Casinos have paper shredders on their machines. Put in money and it does not come back out. Must be a paper shredder.

I'd wanna know the ottoman's history... I wouldn't be surprised if it was manufactured at a state or federal prison. Does the wood have any branding marks on it? What's the construction, and what fasteners were used in it?

I know this is years late but did your wife or you ever find out anything else about the shredded money? I just recently found an ottoman that appears to be fully stuffed with shredded money. This one is round though. I'm just trying to get any more information about this peculiar choice of stuffing.
