has anyone found a shock that will work for the seat shock on a D17 deluxe seat. I am in the process of putting all of the bushings etc. in new and when I took the spring off to clean that and the shock up, I could see that the shock isn't working. I don't necessarily need the whole setup, just a shock to work in place of the old one. Thanks.

I think you can still get them from Agco, at a hefty price no doubt.

The cheapest one I found is from Steiner tractor parts. Around $100

There is a monroe that will substitute i think. Looked good for the D 15. You have to weld a machine bushing on the dust cover in the realtively same place as the original one. Someone recently posted the monroe number, I bought one and it looks like a drop in, but I don't know the number anymore. Give searching a try and post back and I will look a little deeper if you don't find it.

Measure the diameter, the closed length and the open length. Note the ends. Go visit a good shock store, like a FRIENDLY NAPA and look in the back of their shock book for shocks by dimension.
The shortest shocks for loops on both ends were used in 70s vintage Chevrolets on the fronts, cars and pickups. There is a similar short shock with studs on both ends, but I don't have a number. I just found a box for one like that where there are four on my flat bed trailer, but the end with the number is gone. For the trailer I had to salvage the cover from the old shock. Gerald J. |

Duuh. Checked this am since the shock is still laying on the bench after welding the bushing on. The only number i found on it was 5752 ST. don't know if that is the part number or not.
But i don't know if I have a deluxe seat or not.
should get you to the spreqad sheet on monroe shocks Edited by Dave H M - 29 Apr 2010 at 11:41am |
