Just Curious, what is the diameter, length, and weight of a bale made with a roto-baler?  Were they hard to handle in the field?  How about stacking in the barn?  I don't have a roto-baler, but was thinking of advantages over a square bale.  One thing I can think of is if it rains before bales are picked up in the field perhaps they are not ruined.  That would be a big advantage to someone like me that is essentially a one man hobby farm operator.

Bales are 3 feet wide and from 14 to 22 inches in diameter. Depending on the crop being baled, weight can vary from 40 to 100 lbs. The selling points were that they can be left in the field without the risk of losing the hay if it would rain on it as you said. They would also tolerate being dropped from the elevator into the loft better than squares.
