Removing B Thermometer Probe

The probe end of the thermometer is stuck in the housing. I assume it's just inserted,not a press fit or thread, and that its just corroded in. But I don't want to bust the housing.

Suggestions on how to remove? Heat it and drive it through the housing?

If the gauge part is twisted off and it's just the tube stuck in there, I've drilled them out.

Luckily I had the housing on the bench. Clamped the tube in needle nosed vise grips and tapped it out.
