the torrential rain is abating and winter winding down. Time for another big go at ressurrecting the old HD5. Made decent progress preparing to pull the engine. Only question now is what to do with hydraulic pump. Does one unhook the hydraulic lines and the pump comes out with the engine, or, leave hydraulic lines attached and remove hydraulic pump to hang down below engine? Not obvious to me and the manual makes no mention. Thanks for your guidance.

You can leave the pump in and remove bolts from engine mount and lever it forward to clear engine , as it uses a coupling and plate mounted in front pulley on crank .
