It may be possible that some dies, etc are stored by AGCO in a salt mine somewhere in Kansas. I do not know how you can find out. They may have been destroyed by now.

Thanks Dick I see. I see. When you do it it looks easy.
I have two grown boys that are expert welders. They take jobs from everybody and anybody but me. They act like my money is no good.
I deeded both of them 7 acres to build on so it's not like they need gas money to drive down to my shop.
Now, if it was my wifes tractor that needed a gas tank they would be fightin over who gets the job.

Easy, Just cut the bottom or bottoms below the seam, spot weld a band like in my picture to hold the edges flush with the inside of the top and weld below the seam. After welding make sure you use a tank liner kit while the inside is still sanded clean. That will take care of any pin holes in your weld if you happen to get any. The band around the inside gives you a thicker metal to weld which will helps with keeping from burning thru.

I have a dozen or more B/C/CA tanks with issues like dents and rust. I keep trying to talk myself into making 1 out of 2 like Mr DickLs example shows it can be done. No real need to reproduce anything but the tank bottoms in most cases.
Is there a way to cut one solid tank in two to knock out dents and tig it back together. I can see why using 2 would work better because there is no way to split the seam.
Reproduction C allis fenders would make a C allis restorers day.

I am in the process of rebuilding fenders for my D-17. One thing I could use , is if someone would just make the back bracing that spot welds onto the fender. On one fender I have cut two in half to make one. It is finished all but some filler to hide the weld area. Dave.

Saber saw and angle grinder. Two different tanks. One had the bottom rusted out bad and the other one was bashed in across the top. Probly a tree or someone had a real bad temper. Both were junk to smart people. But I just hada had em.

I would second the 5000 series. Particularly the engine parts, as these are totatly unavailable and quite a few good machines are scrapped cause rings, valves, and valve guides are not available. The rest is somewhat available from AGCO, I have gotten several parts from them for my 5015, but hte motor parts don't exist in their stock.

I've heard that those Norton tanks don't even hold gas (from India). I thought about getting one for my Combat to replace the original fiberglass one. What kind of Norton do you have? Mine is a '72 Commando 750 Combat that is metallic gold colored.

Dave,
I see you have new(I assume they are new) WORKING Traction booster guages....Whats the story on getting those made? Are they of the same construction or based on a typical modernday hydraulic pressure gauge? Edited by TomYaz - 25 May 2011 at 8:51am |

I made up some Barnes PS Pump shafts a few years ago, and had no takers when I offered them here, so I only finished one for myself. Fred is right, very few parts are really worth what it will cost to make them, even at minimum wage. I hate to say it, but tractor folks are cheapskates...
