Thunder storms and rain here now. Sure better than last week. Although I been using the snow shovel to scoop water outta my machine shed. I've never seen it so bad. Dang snow all slid off the roof -- now melting and seeping in the SW Corner. Egg production is was up this week. I got 8 eggs. Up until today its been almost 1 egg every other day, but not on the coldest days. Went for 2 weeks with no eggs.

You're brother can stop at Johnson's Corner truck stop and have himself one of their famous cinnamon buns.
I woke up about 2:15 this morning to the sound of heavy rain on my metal house roof.  Had 7/10" by 9:30, then it started to snow, getting about an inch an hour so far, might get as much as 8 inches.  No 60 MPH winds yet as they had predicted.  Out east of here it's pretty bad.  Virtually every school district in the state is closed.  Had a Dr. appointment for 1 pm, they called and canceled.  Hoping the power doesn't go off.  You all stay safe, and will somebody go and blow up that confounded "pretty" machine at Shameless's place!

re: egg production
it's LIGHT that makes them lay more ! Have an LED light on a timer, come on before sunrise and off 2hrour after sunset and you'll get 5 eggs per 6 hens.

I designed and made an universal automatic henhouse  light system. Used  GPS to figure out where it was, then adjust On/Off times based on mathmatical sunrise/sunset calculations. LEDs came on gradual( fade up) and off(fade down) to mimic the Sun. Built for neigbour who then moved !! Nother dustcollector...sigh

Started raining last night - mist before that part of day - so ice sheets now in yard where snow had been cleared off - even the dog is taking real small steps as it traverses the icy patches .
Looking at the roof I should have removed the snow last week or before as now ice dams along edges - to wet out to go do it now though so see how much melts in next couple days  - suppose to get rain and thunder showers later -
Had a cooler out on back steps with some extra frozen things in it - checked it - somehow it filled with water so have 4 soggy frozen pizzas (were frozen once)to feed the dog now - cooked on for lunch - don't think i want 3 more meals of them though so dod will get a snack later .

Prolly gonna have a bone dry summer after last years swamping cause now all the winter snow is going to run off the hard froze ground. We really didn't get much snow here in the Twin Cities till February, and the ground was well frozen by then.

What can I say?  (throwing hands up in the air in despair),,,,,,,,,Yup, I gotta agree with Chas,,,,,NO snow all winter and then nothing but LOTS of snow every other day.  I give up!!  I've got a torn muscle in my left arm from flinging snow and sprained my right wrist an every time I move it a certain way,,,,,,OW THAT HURTS!! (that's NOT what I say, but this is a family site)...

Now we're getting nothing but rain (last I knew it was over 3" and we only get 2.?? for the whole month!!)  and it's STILL raining right now.  It's supposed to stop though,,,,,,,,,,it's gonna turn to snow tomorrow......SHUCKEYDARN!!!
