can a 1992 r52 with an accum system handle a 8 row 36 black head? not a hugger- i know people use 8 30 heads- a 8 36 cant weigh that much more

Yes. I run a hugger now and had the old black head off my L2 on it before that. The hugger is so much better of a head and the way it feeds the front feed chain I would not waste my time if I were you using anything else. My neighbour had a R50 that ran an 11 row @20 for years. They steer better for one thing, just be careful getting on the brakes at road speed is all.

This may help you out on the weight a little bit, My operators manual only goes up to 8-30 so I cant get you a weight on the 8-36. These weights are for the "black" corn heads.
4-30 2400lbs
4-36 2528lbs
6-30 3543lbs
6-36 3700lbs
8-30 4638lbs
Based on the numbers Id guess the 8-36 would weigh 4824lbs?

I do not know what the book says as I have never looked at it. I know the 8 row hugger is a little lighter (or feels like it) than the black one did. I have picked them both up with my 580B Case to move them and they seemed about the same weight as they were near all it would lift. After seeing the R50 with the narrow row head on it and they used it for at least 6 or 8 years I would have no concern of putting the black head on other than feeding it into the feeder house. The hugger feeds way better and I am in a variety of corn right know where I am taking the top half of the stalk it is so dry and brittle and there is no way my black head would feed as even as the hugger is and allow me to go the speed I am.
