I have a Brent large by huge gravity wagon that runs on the 22.5 super single truck tires and picked up a nail. Is it a good idea to repair the tire with a plug after I pull the nail or will need to be dismounted for a patch?
Thanks

A patch would be better than a plug.

A plug wont last long under that amount of weight, its better to take the time now and patch then have a plug give out on the road

I'd plug and patch. That's what the tireshop did for my front tire on the A-C forklift( 5,000 cap). The plug fills the void from the nail, the patch is extra protection.
A plug 'should' be enough, if the tires newish, well prepped  and the patch 'vulcanizes' to the tire 100%....but WHY tempt fate ?

I owned a tire shop for 22 years. Do not put a plug in the tire. It will just Mahe the hole bigger. They make a very heavy patch to put in those tires. They need a special glue to hold them on. The patch is blue and the heavy duty glue is plue. Do not set the glue on fire.
