It seems that the aftermarket fenders for the D series leave something to be desired. I was wondering if anyone had ever inquired about obtaining the stamped reinforcements for the inside of the fenders seperately? I know that most of us can handle the repair to the flatwork but all of the fenders that I have seen have the reinforcements rusted out above the bolts.

Just wondering?

Chris, it cost money to ride the train, drink whiskey and watch the pretty girls. Money is the reason. Cost quite a bit to build that tooling. To re-coup your tooling cost in very low volume parts drives the piece price up. Your talking tens of thousands of dollars over a limited number of parts. HTH Tracy Martin

Tracey, would it be possible to have the fender stiffeners made? This would be a big help because I have practically rebuilt the rest of the fender but it would help alot if I had new stiffeners to weld on to the repaired fenders.

As thick as they are, I think they need to be drawn in a die. Might could crush form them, but tears are likely. Machine from solid too costly. They could be lost wax cast, probably cheapest route. Big money any way you choose. They appear to be several sizes thru the D series also. How much are people willing to spend is the question. HTH Tracy Martin

As Tracy stated to many different bracket/braces made, we can get them made but not to many people want to pay the price. Had quote done on D14/D15 fenders, and would have to get something like $450.00 per fender, and invest over 125k. Not smart business.

I guess the point i was making is that someone is already reproducing them for the complete fenders that are being sold for $225. Could you get ahold just the 3 reinforments for each fender and sell them seperately?
