We have a 2500 open here in Maryland. Our first pull for next year will be the last Saturday in April.

If a good number of pullers want a 2500lb class they need to push for one. One guy showing up with a 2500lb tractor hasn't got a chance making it happen.
If you just want to hook and pull a 2500lb tractor set up right can be pretty competitive against the average 3000lb farm stock tractors.
Case in point. I pulled a friends bone stock IB in 3000 farm stock and competition classes and won both. Weighed in the IB at just a bit over 2500 if I remember right. That was fun.

I get a kick out of how our local clubs were quick to drop the 2500 lb. class, but we routinely have only 2 or 3 tractors in the heavy classes, but no talk of dropping those classes.
