I have been asking a friend of the family about a 716H she owns. It hasn't run in at least 5 years, maybe more. She said it was running when they put it in the shop. It has been stored inside. Her husband owned an auto supply store, so his stuff was kept in pretty good shape generally.
It has a cab, snowblower, tire chains, and a mower deck. She said the mower deck needs a lot of love. I have seen the tractor, but I was looking at another tractor she had at the time, so didn't pay a lot of attention to the 716H. The pics I have show it in pretty fair shape, a few dents I can see and a little rust. Unfortunately the pics are of the other tractor I was looking at so the 716 is in the background and most of it is blocked. Seat looks ripped. It has the 4 headlights, two on each side which makes it a 74 or 75 I think...? Tires look okay. She wants $1200 for the 716. Seems like a lot of money to me. I was hoping for a lot lower number.....I know it is not much to go on, but any opinions you have would be appreciated....The tractor is a couple hours drive away, I might get another look at it, we will be in the area for a family thing soon, but the price has put me off.

The price is way to high,I would'nt want give that much for a garden tractor that had a bad deck and had not run for 5 years plus,I would think about making her an offer and think about what it cost you to get it going,I would think it's later than a 74' or 75' because I have a 416 thats a 74'.Hope the info helps. ------------- If you first don't succeed then you'se brute force! |

| Yeah. I think those tractors with decent deck is around $500 IMO. Snow blower and if factory AC cab might add another $100-$200 or so. |

| I would say if it was running with all of the goodies, 800-1000, but not running who knows what you might get yourself into. If it's a good factory soft cab, they can go for 200-300 by themselves if all the clear panels are in good shape. I know that cause I found one for 250 on craigslist and my dad thought it was too high. Guy later sold it on ebay and it went for over 300. My dad now bought a crappy Sears cab and adapted it and he paid 150 for that and it's more like one of those gaurds on a walk behind snowblower then a true cab. If it's in good shape, work out a deal with her and explain what you might be in for. Even if you paid what she's asking for it, remember that it is a true garden tractor, and if cared for will outlive you. Think about that and what the disposable models are going for at Lowes and Home Depot and in 3-4 years of solid cutting they are junk and you can't even mount a snowblower onto most of them. |

When I bought the two 716H's that I have, the running one I paid $250. for, the parts Tractor was $150. Between the two, I made one nice one. And, like anything else, it wasn't cheap to restore it, but that's just me..... LOL! Steve@B&B |

I'm thinking of offering her $300 for the whole deal, going to $350 if I have to. Of course my F350 picked this week to krap out a front hub so I dunno if I am going to be able to offer her anything......I'm thinking of pulling the hub myself and trying to replace it, but it got so hot that I'm betting the spindle is shot and I don't think I can do that myself.

Creek, go on thedieselstop.com for your truck. If you look up spindle or hub, someone put a really nice post together on taking a F250-350 front end apart to replace ball joints etc. Might give you some insight into what you're getting into. Did you get that G. Looks nice from the pics at least. |
