I just purchased a A-C Power Unit and am trying to find out its day of manufacture, etc. Can anyone tell me anything about it or where I might find some info on it.

Check the AM casting number. As a general rule BE and CE blocks cast in 40 ended in 12. 41 a 13. 42 a 14 and so on. That K in the SN means it was a dual fuel unit and would run on Kerosene

you know the CE motor is a 125 cubic inch and was also used in the model B, C and CA tractors.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Hey Goober, welcome to the forum. I'm from Elberton, GA. Mr. Sam, how you doing?

Also, if you need a hood for that distillate power unit, I have one. It's currently doing duty as the hood for my C. I'd rather have the right hood for the tractor. Send me a message or call if you need it, or just want to talk about tractors. 706-498-0363.

I agree with Richard. Probably mid 1945. There is no way to tell what month or day it was built. Here is Bryan Smiths web page with a lot of information.

Thanks to all for your replies. From info I've gathered here and some other places I was able to find the units serial number. It is on the stamped plate riveted to the clutch inspection cover, SN: PU 28740. Not sure if that helps on the manufacture date or not. I have shot some PB Blaster all over it and I pulled the valve cover off, all of the valves seem to function OK. The exhaust manifold is shot. Who has the best parts and pricing ?

My Palmetto is south of Atlanta , north of Newnan and west of I-85.

Dream, I may call you about that hood but first I'm going to try and get it running.

Thanks
Mark

Be careful. May want to look that manifold over carefully before you replace it. If it was a duel-fuel manifold and you plan to try to run it on kero at all, make sure you get another duel-fuel manifold.
